What was supposed to be a rose bush turned out to be a raspberry bush; very prolific! While I really enjoyed the fruit this year, and the plant is very healthy and the fruit was wonderful, it is spreading everywhere in my garden, and soon you won’t be able to see anything else! How can I effectively remove the “suckers” and manage it so it doesn’t take over without killing my lillies, roses, etc.? Thank you!

Wait till it rain hards, then cut the plants back to a foot and pull up. You have to get the roots out, whether they come up by hand or you have to dig them up.
If that doesn’t work, spray them with Roundup.
I tried to grow raspberries in GA (Clay soil) without success. Send me your raspberries! I’ll send you blackberries, which WE can’t get rid of!

I just learned that red raspberries “sucker” from their roots. The only way to keep them from doing it is to remove the whole plant. The other alternative is to just keep pulling out the little suckers as they come up.
Black raspberries (not blackberries) and purple raspberries don’t sucker from the roots this way, so I’m going to put some of them in.
